Hi. I’m Ja’Keta.
There was a point in my life where I wasn’t always present with people, places, or things. I didn’t have time to build real connections. I was detached. At the time…I found freedom in that…So I thought… I’ll never forget the day I looked in the mirror and didn’t recognize myself.
All that I had seen and done and I wasn’t familiar with much at all. Right then and there I knew I wanted and needed change. I started looking into retreats, ideally I would take a solo vacation on a beach with cocktails and food while finding myself, but what I found was Vipassana…A TEN day SILENT course that teaches a technique of meditation as an ART of LIVING. It wasn’t too far from home and it was donation based. I was so excited I could of run there like Forrest Gump but I decided to drive.
This was probably the hardest decision I ever made because I had to leave the life that needed my day to day management to stay maintained all alone for TEN days!!! That was scary, but not more terrifying than wherever I was headed, which I had absolutely no idea…So I went! Vipassana Meditation aims at the highest spiritual goals of total liberation and full enlightenment. What a rude, but wide awakening that was for me.
However, it was just what I needed. Since 2017 I have been following this practice. The process of self purification by introspection. Becoming and being more mindful. Shortly after I was introduced to yoga. Yoga is the relationship that is built between the body, mind, and breath. After my first class I found it was NOT as easy as I imagined, but the true surprise was the sense of peace and joy I found.
Yoga has been a part of my life for 7 consecutive years now. Each day I grow stronger, more flexible, and fearless, both on and off the mat. Yoga inspires me to live each moment more mindfully. I completed my 200 hour YTT training with 612 Jungle in Minneapolis Minnesota and I will always be a student of the practice. I am deeply grateful for the wisdom my teachers shared with me. Now. I am ready to share with you! Yoga is freedom and release. I seek to help others thrive by nurturing mind, body, and soul. My hope is that you step off the mat feeling refreshed, nourished and balanced. I have gotten to a place of true liberation…I encourage and welcome you to join me here where it’s more than just yoga, it’s YOUR experience!
